City FC Abuja recorded a crucial 1–0 victory over Doma United FC in a Nigeria National League (NNL) Matchday 7 encounter played at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch, Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

After a tightly contested first half, the breakthrough arrived in the second period when Shuaib Akinwande found the back of the net to give City FC the decisive advantage.

The goal came from a corner kick situation after a scramble and confusion saw the ball fall to Joseph Donatus, whose pass was put into the net by Akinwande.

Doma United, popularly known as the Savannah Tigers, remain top of the Savannah Conference C table with 16 points from seven matches despite the defeat.

Attention now shifts to the reverse fixture, as City FC will travel to Gombe to face Doma United in the second stanza of the league at the Pantami Stadium on January 31, 2026.

The Promise Keepers piped the Makurdi based club 2-1 at the Lafia City Stadium to move two places away from the relegation zone.

Sani Suleiman connected well with Seyi Oguntayo's cross to send his effort into the net for the first goal for United on 20 minute before he doubled the lead on 68 minute.

Abubakar Aliyu trimmed Akwa's lead to one with 15 minutes to go, but it was not enough to stop the win.

A dominating early start was rewarded on 20 minute following a scramble from a corner kick, Onovo found space to slot the ball into the net.

15 minutes to the end of the first half, Barnabas Daniel made it two after the goalkeeper parried the ball, and he pounced on the loose ball from Sunday Anthony's free kick.

Anthony got his first goal of the season with a header, assisted by Daniel Itodo's throw-in 2 minutes into the second half before Bernard Mundi added the icing on the cake with a marvelous strike from 10 meters away from the yard after 90 minutes.

At Ikenne, Abayomi Adebayo gave Remo Stars the lead on 39 minute after bending home a free-kick lay off by Sodiq Ismail before Sikiru Alimi doubled the lead after converting from the spot after Dayo Ojo was brought down in the box at the dead of half time.

There were wins on the road for Doma United and Niger Tornadoes while Rangers International maintained their fine form after the matchday 28 set of matches played in the Nigeria Premier Football League on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Doma United piped Akwa United at the Godswil Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo 1-0 courtesy of a Emmanuel Jesam’s early goal.

Reigning champions and 9-time winners of the Nigeria Premier Football League, Enyimba and Doma United have been given varying fines for breaching the league's framework in their match day 23 fixture in Aba, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The People's Elephant were fined 7m naira, stadium closure for 3 matches for not providing adequate and effective security in the course of the match leading to poor crowd control and unauthorised persons gaining access to restricted area.

Sunshine Stars were 2-0 winners at the Akure Township Stadium against Doma United in the Nigeria Premier Football League match day 17 fixture on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Akure Gunners triumphed courtesy of goals from Emmanuel Isaac and Opeoluwa Olufemi sealed three points at the end of proceedings.

Lobi Stars ended an 8-uneabten streak of Doma United after a 2-1 win at the Lafia City Stadium.

Stanley Oganbor opened the score in the  4th minute to give Lobi Stars the lead in the first 45.

Suleiman Mojereoma doubled the lead in the 79the minute before Samuel Enefiok reduced the deficit in the 95th minute but it only proved a consolation.

Newly appointed Napoli manager, Walter Mazzari has hailed Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen following his contribution toward the Azzuri’s 2-1 win away from home, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
