CAF WCL: Bayelsa Queens progress to the semifinals

Nigeria's representative in the 2022 CAF Women's Champions League, Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria have booked their place in the semi finals in their maiden participation in the competition, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

This was after an impressive three nil win over Wadi Degla of Egypt in their last group stage match on Sunday.

Sunday Juliet's goal and a brace from Itim Mercy ensured the emphatic victory in their group B fixture of the 8-team competition.

With six points secured following two wins, the Prosperity Girls have moved to the next round of the competition.

Juliet's goal came as early as the 8th minutes of the game to give the Nigerian girls the lead to ride.

The score remained so till the end of the first phase of the match.

Mercy made it two three minutes into the second half giving the Queens a two-goal cushion and ease in the game.

Eight minutes later, Mercy completed her brace to put the tie beyond the reach of the Egyptians.

The match ended 3-0 in favour of Bayelsa Queens who made the semi finals after garnering 6 points alongside defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies who qualify finishing top with nine points.

Mercy Evawere of Bayelsa Queens won the woman of the match prize for her outstanding performance against Wadi Degla FC Match.

Bayelsa will play host team, ASFAR Club of Morocco in one of the semi finals of the tournament while Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa play Simba Queens FC of Tanzania.
