Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has provided a fitness update on Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen ahead of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Osimhen is in contention to feature in the crucial encounter, despite not being at his best physical condition.
The 26-year-old striker missed Galatasaray's previous three outings due to a knee injury sustained while on international duty against South Africa.
However, he made a welcome return to action as a substitute in Galatasaray's 1-0 win at Alanyaspor on Friday, playing 10 minutes.
"Victor continued training. We will see how he was in the last training session today. The fact that he played 10 minutes in the last match and continued training with us is a positive thing for us." Buruk was quoted by the club’s official website.
The coach added that Osimhen's condition would be reassessed before the game at the RAMS Park to determine his availability.
Galatasaray will be looking to bounce back from their matchday one defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt when they host Liverpool on Tuesday.
Osimhen's presence would be a significant boost for the Turkish champions, who will need their star striker at his best to take on the Premier League side.
