South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has named his preliminary squad for Bafana Bafana’s October qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Rwanda, even as FIFA investigates the alleged ineligible use of midfielder Teboho Mokoena during a March clash with Lesotho, NigeriaSoccernet.com can report.

Should FIFA rule against South Africa, the team could be docked three points, a sanction that would significantly alter the Group C standings.

Broos has largely stuck with the core that defeated Lesotho and earned a point against Nigeria earlier this month. Midfielder Sphephelo Sithole returns after missing recent fixtures, while Germany-based defender Ime Okon, absent through injury last time out, also makes the list.

The provisional squad will be trimmed to 23 players before the double-header. South Africa hosts Zimbabwe at Moses Mabhida Stadium on October 10, before facing Rwanda at Mbombela Stadium on October 14.
