Ludovic Ajorque put the hosts ahead after nine minutes, and their advantage was doubled just eight minutes later when Luka Tousart found the net.

Kenny Lala then converted a penalty in the 30th minute to make it 3-0. Brest completed a remarkable first-half spell shortly before the interval, with Mama Balde scoring their fourth goal and leaving Angers with little prospect of securing a positive result.

Angers responded quickly after the restart as Prosper Peter reduced the deficit in the 47th minute. Any hopes of a comeback were short-lived, however, with Pathe Mboup restoring Brest’s four-goal lead seven minutes later.

Angers’ task became even more difficult in the 59th minute when Jordan Lefort was shown a red card, leaving the visitors to finish the match with 10 men.

There were no further changes to the score, as Brest completed a commanding 5-1 victory.
