"?Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel believes his side has room for improvement after watching an "arduous" 2-1 victory over Mainz 05 to record their first Bundesliga win of the season, FourFourTwo reports.
A brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the Signal Iduna Park was enough to secure three points at the Signal Iduna Park despite tensions rising slightly after Yoshinori Muto grabbed a consolation goal in stoppage time.
The win extends Dortmund's outstanding unbeaten run at home in the league that goes all the way back to April 2015. The win, however, was not as convincing as Tuchel might have hoped for and described the win as "dogged" in the hot temperatures:
"Today we might have been an attacking and passing machine, but we were not a proper machine," he said. "That's not meant as an accusation, but more of a description.
"We looked nervous to some extent, did not find the right structure and did not find the spaces behind Mainz's first line of defence.
"On the occasions we did find them, then we had difficulties getting our combination play going.
"It looked a little bit dogged. It was an arduous victory," the 42-year-old added. "In the second half we defended the counter-attacks well. We sank our teeth into the game and always kept our heads up.
"The result is important, above all because we didn't play our best on the day."
Many of his men will join up with their national teams ahead of the international fixtures next week. RB Leipzig will be their next opponents in the Bundesliga when they return from international duty.
