Despite 12 appearances for the three-time African champions, Boniface is yet to open his goal account.

However, the 24-year-old has been in fine form for his club side Bayer Leverkusen, scoring his 11th goal of the season in a 3-1 victory over Bochum on Friday.

Taking to Instagram, Boniface reassured Nigerian supporters, asking for patience as he works to break his international goal drought. "Nigerians please be patient with me, the goal will come," he posted.
