Betting on the 2017 Serie A season

Published on: 07 June 2016

The 2015/2016 Serie A season is behind us. Juventus have become the champions for the 32nd time with Napoli and Roma trailing them with excellent performances. The team that surprised the most were Sassuolo landing in the top half of the table. Despite that, there weren’t any unbelievable surprises where Serie A bettors could make a lot of money like in the Premier League where lucky bettors have made a fortune from betting on Leicester City to be champions.

But, there is always next season, and 2017 should be an interesting one with Cagliari’s return to the elite. Who knows, maybe we’ll see a similar Leicester City scenario with a team like Vicenza. Once the schedule has been released you can try your luck at your favorite sportsbook with the early odds. For just 20 EUR you could earn more than 100,000 EUR. Some of these sportsbooks feature the high limit online casinos listed here.

Betting on the Old Lady to win the title again next season would be the safest bet. But, to win a large amount of money with such a bet you will need to put down big money, which is why betting on the underdog is always much more profitable.

Juventus have been phenomenal. In the last 25+ fixtures of the 2015/2016 season they won almost all of the points by defeating everyone, which helped them make up for the poor start in the season. Only two teams have won the title five times in a row (Juventus and Torino), and if Juventus win the title again next season they will write a new page in the history of Serie A. There is an idea for a bet.

Juventus are a very capable team to pull off this record. They have impressive financial and performance results, and at the moment they are the only real contender for the Champions League coming from Serie A. Their team depth, versatility and star power are unparalleled at the moment so there is no reason to think that their quality will take a dip. So, Juventus will be your safest bet to win the 2017 season. The only problem would be Pogba leaving, who’s wanted by many teams.

Roma on the other hand is expected to improve even more in comparison with 2016. This year Roma wasn’t that much consistent, but the winning mentality inserted by Spalleti will continue for the next year too. No one could have predicted that Roma will finish in the top 3 teams, which makes them candidates for an even more successful 2017.

With Totti signed on for another year, they don’t have to worry about filling a big void in the leadership department. He is the biggest mentor in the club at the moment, and his role in the locker room and the bench as well is invaluable. Also, if Manolas, Nianggolan or Pjanic decide to leave, Roma’s hopes for the first Scudetto since 2001 will be crushed.

Nevertheless, at least two of those will surely decide to stay, and if Roma can make some good deals during the summer transfer market in terms of a striker, we might be seeing them score the minimum of 85 points required to take the trophy. On top of that, betting on Roma to be champion will bring you more money than betting on Juventus.

On the other hand, the predictions for Napoli according to experts are not well. Most of them expect for Napoli to go down in 2017, so it might not be wise to rely your bets much on Napoli in terms of title win or games.

Napoli had a wonderful season, they had one of the best starting eleven in Europe with Sarri doing wonders for Insigne and Higuain, but if Higuain decides to leave, then Napoli will be left hanging because he is practically irreplaceable. On top of that, Napoli have very little squad depth, and they will have to spend a lot if they want to compete with Roma and Juventus for the Scudetto. And if Higuain decides to stay, Napoli won’t have much money to spend so they are in kind of a lock down. There is no doubt that sportsbooks will give them favorable odds, but it’s not worth it.

Nothing much is expected from Inter. They will perform the same to say the least. Their finances are a mess with no end in sight, which is why they will be forced to sell some of the star players. As a result they will have another mediocre season.

Milan on the other hand are expected to improve but not enough to be title contenders. They are a perfect example that spending money is not always guaranteed to bring results which left them competing with Sassuolo on the table. However, since the Rossoneri performed much better compared to 2015, it is expected for them to make another leap forward in 2017.

And finally, Fiorentina… they were pretty good, but as the season progressed they slipped down. They can’t be counted out from the title race, but they still don’t have what it takes. Their depth is weak, and they can’t afford to lure star players. The best thing they can do is try to improve with what they got at the moment.

Hopefully this will give you a clear picture of how things are going to get in 2017 to assist you in betting on Serie A. However, there will be more analysis so stay alert. As the summer transfer window passes sportsbooks will improve their odds and better bets might arise.
