Flying Eagles coach Manu Garba has said he expects Ghana to fight for a result against Mali today so as to avoid his team in the semifinal of the AYC.
Ghana are top of Group B on six points and having scored more goals than their West African rivals Mali, who also have six points. They will win the group if they avoided defeat today at the Caroline Faye Stadium in Mbour.
“I want to believe both Ghana and Mali will play so as to avoid us in the semifinal on Wednesday,” said coach Manu after his team forced Cote d’Ivoire to a 2-2 draw in Mbour on Saturday.
“If I were their coaches, I would do the same team to.”
Last month the Flying Eagles played two test matches in Ghana – winning 2-0 in Tema and being forced to a 2-2 draw in Accra by the Black Satellites.
Manu blamed defensive errors for the draw with Cote d’Ivoire.
“The two goals we let in were due to defensive errors, which should not be on a normal day for us,” he said.
