The Nigerian striker delivered a standout performance, scoring twice and winning a penalty, which Igor Jesus converted, as Forest secured a crucial three points in their fight for survival.

Reflecting on the result, Awoniyi highlighted the collective effort of the team while giving special credit to the coaching staff for their preparation and tactical approach.

“It’s an important win, credit to the players, to the coach, and the staff. We came here with the mentality of getting three points, which we need, and I’m so pleased that we managed to win,” he said via the club’s official website.

He also pointed to the team’s fast start as a key factor in the victory, noting that it aligned perfectly with the manager’s instructions.

“It was an amazing start, and we had control of the ball in the first five minutes, which is what the coach wanted from us. It was an amazing delivery, and I was in the right place at the right time to score.”

Awoniyi further stressed the importance of teamwork, praising both starters and substitutes for their contributions.

“It was a team effort, not just about the goals. Morato as well, and the players that came on from the bench. It’s about the team and being ready for the team.”

Looking ahead, the forward emphasised the need to maintain focus as the season enters its final phase, with another key fixture against Aston Villa F.C. on the horizon.

“Next up, we have Villa, which is another important game. We’re taking each game as it comes and going into it with a three-point mentality,” he added.

Forest’s victory has significantly boosted their chances of retaining their Premier League status, with only a few games left to play this season.
