Awaziem's Hajduk Split get new manager

Nigeria defender, Chidozie Awaziem will be playing under new manager as his club, Hajduk Split have brought in their former player, Ivan Leko as the Coach of the side.

The club announced last day to the end of the year that the former will be at the helm of affairs till 2025 as his contract states.

The 44-year-old was an an assistant to Igor Tudor in the Greek PAOK, and as an independent coach he managed the Belgian clubs Leuven, Sint-Truden, Royal Antwerp and Club Brugge, with which he won the championship title, cup and Supercup and played in the Champions League groups in 2018.

He also sat on the bench of Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates, and his last coaching engagement was in the Chinese Premier League club Shanghai Port, which he led for the last two years.

"This moment is very special, emotional. I started playing football in Hajduk, I knew that the day would come when I would become Hajduk's coach. I am very happy and looking forward to it, I hope that many beautiful things await us." Leko said.

According to a club statement on their website, the Croat will be unveiled officially on Wednesday, 4th January, 2023.
