August: Victor Boniface wins Bundesliga players of the month

Super Eagles new boy, Victor Boniface has been voted the Bundesliga players for the month of August, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

The Nigerian registered more shots than any other Bundesliga player in August – 14. On only the second matchday alone, against Gladbach, he fired off 11 attempts on Jonas Omlin’s goal, as many as Harry Kane managed across Matchdays 1 and 2.

Boniface’s sheer hard work has left a great impression too as his 54 challenges contested are the highest in the Bundesliga, while his fierce pressing has helped him win 43 percent of them.

The Super striker saw off competitions from Bayern Munich duo of Alphonso Davies and Harry Kane, Jonas Wind of Wolfsburg, Kevin Behrens of Union Berlin, and Benjamin Henrichs of RB Leipzig.

He also won the Bundesliga Rookie Player of the month few days ago.

Rookie Player of the month award explained

To win Bundesliga Rookie Player of the month, the player: "Must be younger than 23 on Matchday 1 of the new season and cannot have started a Bundesliga match in any previous campaign.

"Furthermore, players can have accumulated no more than 450 minutes of action before the start of the Bundesliga season in question. That means that youngsters who have only made brief appearances in their careers so far and who have not yet had the chance to fully showcase their talents, still have the opportunity to be named Rookie of the Month, presented by Sorare."

Boniface finished ahead of Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig and German-born Nigerian goalkeeper Noah Atubolu of Freiburg to land the award.
