Genk, often referred to as "The Smurfs," have shown consistent performances, establishing a clear lead over their closest rivals as they pursue the championship.

Currently, Genk holds 31 points from 13 matches, sitting seven points ahead of reigning champions Club Brugge. Arokodare, speaking confidently about their title chances, remarked, “If we can continue to win matches like this, then of course we want to become champions, but that is still far too early to say. We just have to remain disciplined now.”

Reflecting on the team’s recent 1-0 victory over Antwerp, he praised the collective effort, adding, “We were all fantastic (vs Antwerp). From the goalkeeper to the players on the bench and the coaches.”

With their latest win, Genk has secured the status of autumn champions, a mid-season achievement that indicates strong league form but doesn’t guarantee the title.

Arokodare, who is currently the league’s leading scorer and reportedly being scouted by Nigeria’s Super Eagles, downplayed the interim title: “It doesn’t really mean much… It just means that we are doing well,” he emphasized. “We have to keep up that form.”

Genk’s lead and Arokodare’s performances have boosted fans' expectations for the club’s first league title since 2019, but the team remains focused on maintaining their consistency as they head into the next phase of the season.
