Sporting director Klaus Allofs is hoping that a change of coach will breathe new life into Wolfsburg, with Dieter Hecking having left the club on Monday.
Die Wolfe opted to part company with Hecking following a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of RB Leipzig on Sunday, which extended their winless run to six games.
Radical changes to the squad during this summer failed to generate the desired momentum.

Hecking had led the Wolves to second place in the Bundesliga in 2014/15, while in the same season they lifted the DFB-Pokal for the first time in their history.
However, last season they could only finish in eighth place in the German top-flight and missed out on European qualification, although they did reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
This term they stand in 14th place in the Bundesliga and are without a win in their last six league games, a run which has seen Hecking depart, with Valerien Ismael placed in caretaker charge for the weekend trip to Darmstadt.
Allofs explained that it was a difficult to end the reign of Hecking, but insisted that it was the right decision, telling the club's official website: "Last season, in spite of enjoying some wonderful evenings in the Champions League, in the domestic league we failed to qualify for international competition
"Radical changes to the squad during this summer failed to generate the desired momentum.
"Following the recently disappointing performances, we came to the decision that a change could provide the necessary impulse within the team."
Wolfsburg can be backed at 3/4 to get back to winning ways at Darmsatdt, with a draw available at 11/4, while Die Wolfe are 2500/1 to secure a top-four finish in the Bundesliga come the end of the season.
