Allegri: Juventus improved after the break

Despite a somewhat subdued performance, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri felt his team played well in their 1-0 win over Torino.

Such was Allegri’s confidence in his team, he never made any substitutions as Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty gave the Bianconeri another victory.

“I don’t have any questions about my team,” Allegri told the press. “Torino played well in the first half, and hurried us a bit, but that was about right.

“The pitch didn’t allow us to take many risks. In the second half we got a lot better, and they got worse. We played against a good Torino side, and we knew it would be a balanced derby.

“When you aren’t playing well, losing isn’t good, so the first thing to do is not concede a goal. Once you are able to defend well, you can attack well. And the players were doing good.

“I didn’t any changes because the game was going well. In the first half we played 15-20 minutes of proper football, and we were fresh after the break. Putting someone in and potentially losing three points was a useless risk.”

Despite playing almost twice every week this season, Allegri doesn’t feel his side are at all tired, and was encouraged by the second half performance.

“There is no tiredness,” Allegri said. “The team improved in the second half, which was very pleasing to see.

“Against Inter the team did the same in the second half, and improved on all aspects. This is what happened today, and it is a good sign the team is doing fine.”
