Fennecs of Algeria coach, Milovan Rajevac has admitted his side will be up against a formidable opponent when they confront the Super Eagles in the race to Russia 2018.
Algeria’s newly appointed coach, who previously handled Ghana on the verge of a historic semi-final ticket at South Africa 2010, is of a view that the Nigerian squad form a true threat, alongside Cameroon and Zambia in Group B of the qualifiers.
Rajevac says Algeria are will hope to enforce their rating on the continent, considering their slot atop the FIFA monthly rankings, but admits it will be a tough race when the qualifiers get going.
The Serbian tactician said he is keen on enacting history with another African team to the World Cup, but Rajevac considers his side’s pairings against Nigeria, Cameroon and Zambia as potential cliff-hangers in the acclaimed ‘Group of Death.’
Rajevac said: “Cameroon, Nigeria and Zambia are all good sides and have a great footballing history behind them. It’s the group of death because every team is looking to qualify. At the end of the day, the best side will go through, and I hope it’s Algeria,”
