Lille manager Bruno Genesio has challenged Chuba Akpom to continue working hard despite his impressive debut for the club, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Akpom scored in Lille's 2-1 home defeat to Le Havre on Saturday, becoming the fourth Nigerian to score on his Ligue 1 debut after Moses Simon, Victor Osimhen, and Terem Moffi.

Genesio praised Akpom's opportunistic goal but emphasized the need for him to adapt to the team's principles.

"Scoring is always a good sign for a striker. Chuba was opportunistic in this action," Genesio told the club's website.

"He still has to find his feet with us and assimilate certain principles. It's good that he scored, as it will boost his confidence and bring us extra quality for the end of the season."
