Enyimba coach, Paul Aigbogun, says he is confident his team will soon top the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table in their bid to defend the title which is gathering momentum in the business end of the season.

The Peoples Elephant are currently placed fifth on the log with 40 points, seven points behind leaders, Wikki Tourists, but have two outstanding games to play.

Despite suffering a 0-2 reverse in the hands of Plateau United at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos on Sunday through goals from Joshua Obaje and Sunday Ingbede, the Enyimba trainer believes that their ambition to defend their title remains alive.

"We are not happy, I think we had better chances in the game but unfortunately we didn't take our chances.

"They fought hard and I think they had two or more chances and they took them. We will do our best and try and get points from our outstanding games and if we get (points), we will be able to climb into the top, so we pray to God that we can do that.

"We haven't done so badly, nobody wins the league at this time of the year. There is still time," the former Warri Wolves coach told npfl.ng.

Aigbogun and his men will, however, have their hands full from Match Day 29 when they face title-chasing Rangers International in the Oriental Derby this weekend at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.

After the derby with Rangers, the NPFL champions will hit the road to play against Warri Wolves in a tricky contest before hosting Wikki Tourists in a Match Day 31 game.
