Norwegian-based agent Atta Aneke has distanced himself from a report published by the official website of the Nigeria Football Federation that claimed that he was demanding money from unsuspecting Nigerians in order to have their wards in the Golden Eaglets.
A visibly angry Aneke has revealed that some impostors cloned his Facebook account and he has reported the fraudsters to the Nigeria Police and the California based online social networking website even before the article was published by the NFF.
“It started six months ago when a few people contacted me claiming that they spoke to me previously concerning Liverpool Academy, ” said Atta Aneke to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I checked Facebook and saw that the profile wasn’t me. It happened two or three times and each time I contacted Facebook and the profile was deleted.
“What they do is to open another profile each time I contact Facebook, this is how they work. I have the numbers of two people involved in the fraud.”
The ex-footballer has advised aspiring players never to pay any money to individuals for invitations to the national teams, adding that they should believe in their abilities.
“I told my scout based in Nigeria, Udia Attai, to contact the Nigeria Police but nothing happened after the case was reported. I am not close to anyone in U17 and never asked any player for money, it is just a fake profile.
“If you have the talent, people will be looking for you and not the other way round.
“They need to know that you don’t meet people through social media and start sending money, ” Aneke concluded.
Aneke manages the affairs of several Nigeria internationals, including Odion Ighalo, Aaron Samuel, Nosa Igiebor and Chuks Akabueze.
