Enyimba goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai, has expressed his excitement after the club qualified for the group stages of the 2016 CAF Champions League on Wednesday.

The former Kano Pillars shot-stopper  saved two kicks in his side’s 4-3 penalty shootout win over Etoile du Sahel  after the match had ended 3-3 on aggregate.

Afelokhai told our correspondent that  Enyimba would not  underrate any team in the competition.

“Wednesday night was a day I will not forget in a hurry because it was a big victory for me and the club,” he said.

“Anyone who wasn’t in Tunisia to see what we faced wouldn’t know how sweet the victory was. It was indeed God’s doing because it was He who made it possible. I have played on the continent a few times but I have yet to see that kind of intimidation and level of violence from a team.

“But we are now focused on the group stages because that is the next stage. It will be foolish for any team to write any other team off at this stage. We  are also prepared to get to our target which is the title.

“For the penalty kicks I saved, I believe it was God. I believed  that I could do it and it came to pass. I had been training for it but not in that kind of atmosphere as was in Tunisia. Thank God we won.”
