Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah admits the defeat to Cote D’Voire in the AFCON final is a bitter pill to swallow but should spur the team on to victory in Gabon 2017.

The Black Stars saw their wait for an AFCON trophy extended after losing 8-9 on penalties to the Ivory Coast.

Acquah who enjoyed a stellar AFCON campaign with the Stars but ended up missing his spot kick says the defeat will fuel them to succeed in the next edition.

“It was very disappointing to lose in the final but sometimes football is that way,” Acquah said

“The defeat was very hard to take but I believe it will help us to work hard and win the next edition.”

Acquah was an unused substitute when Ghana begun their 2017 Africa cup of nations qualifiers with a 7-1 thumping of minnows Mauritius.
