Senegal captain Bouna Coundoul has credited coach Alain Giresse for their come-from-behind 3-1 win over Ghana in the AFCON Group C opener.

The Lions of Teranga went down on 14 minutes when Coundoul fouled Christian Atsu inside the area.

Stand-in captain Andre Ayew converted it perfectly and Ghana went into the break with the lead.

But Senegal put up a stirred up second half performance and snatched the leveller through Mame Bram Diouf.

Moussa Sow came of the bench and netted the match winner with seconds remaining on the clock after Senegal piled incessant pressure.

Coundoul believes the tactics of their coach worked to perfection.

“At half time, our coach told us that if we really want to win this match we must not hold back or fear conceding another goal. So we opened up and fought for every ball until the last minute. That is how we came back to beat the Black Stars," Coundoul said.
