Black Stars head coach Avram Grant, has moved to shelve his team from pressure by claiming they are not amongst favorites for the tournament.

The Black Stars will open their AFCON campaign today at the Estadio de Mongomo against clever qualifying Senegal.

Ghana’s camp has been hit with major injury concerns with skipper Asamoah Gyan facing a late fitness test ahead of the game today whiles key defender John Boye is also a doubt.

Grant who will be overseeing his first official game with the Stars since taking over the side last December  says they are far from being favorites.

“Ghana is not favorite for the tournament if you take the other teams player by player and compare the number of players in the English premier league you will realize there are a lot of good teams,” Grant told El enganche

“Senegal have a lot of players in the English premier league, Algeria where the best African team at the world cup.

“On paper all these teams will come before us but I hope it stay on the paper.”

Ghana have been African Champions on four occasion but have gone 33 years now without a title.
