Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, has sent his well wishes to the team ahead of their group opener against Senegal today.

Appiah, now head coach of Sudanese side Al Khartoum was relieved of his post as head coach of the Black Stars last September following a chaotic world cup campaign and a not so convincing start to AFCON 2015 qualifiers.

“We are Ghanaians and the Black Stars is the only team we have I wish them all the best and pray for a good victory for them,” Appiah said

Two of the players that were starters in Appiah’s stint as head coach of the Stars, skipper Asamoah Gyan and John Boye are doubts for the game against Senegal but the former Kotoko defender says the team has the ability to cope without them.

“Gyan and Boye are all key players but we have a side that is capable of making up if they are unable to play.”
