AC Milan crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday night with one of their most calamitous displays ever in European football.

Gennaro Gattuso’s side only had to avoid a two-goal defeat away to Olympiacos in order to qualify for the last 16 of this seasons Europa League, but were unable to do so in the most catastrophic of matches.

Olympiacos got their two goals in a nine minute period in the second half through Pape Abou Cisse, and a Cristian Zapata own goal. But the Milan defender put one in at the other end, only for a Kostas Fortounis penalty to send the Greeks into the Round of 32.
