Mauritius captain, Jonathan Bru is calling for a quick fix to their problems if they are to whip back on track their campaign to the Gabon 2017 African Cup of Nations following a heavy defeat to Ghana on the opening day of the qualifiers.
'Les Dodos', chasing a second ever qualification to Africa's plum competition were beaten 7-1 by Ghana's Black Stars in Accra on Sunday and Bru admits the defeat was heavy.
He told Cafonline.com that "we knew this game was going to be difficult for us because we played against one of the best teams in Africa.
"The result is really strong for us but the logic was respect. I think the Black Stars were really good today and they started the match very very well. They scored three early goals and after that, it was really difficult but we have to fix things quickly going forward".
Christian Atsu sent Ghana ahead in 10minutes after positioning well to tower over his markers and nod home from a close range to send the supporters who braved an early downpour chanting.
Ghana took absolute charge of the match thereafter following earlier threats by the visitors with Asamoah Gyan almost doubling the advantage four minutes on.
Gyan raced deep alone, and with goalkeeper Kevin Jean- Louis to beat hit straight with the far post begging for attention.
This drew Mauritius into a mini conference. But before the visitor's could implement their strategy from the meeting, Jordan Ayew darted well to get to the end of a fine move initiated by Baba Rahman to up Ghana's lead 10 minutes on.
The goal further unsettled 'Les Dodos' who had shown early prospect, forcing them to marshal numbers to settle deep in their own half in a bid to curtail the growing threat from the Black Stars.
Mauritius are now stuck at the bottom of the log after other Group H member, Rwanda beat Mozambique by a lone goal to move behind Ghana at the apex of the log.
