West Ham's Slaven Bilic Still in Limbo Following Decision to Postpone Contract Talks Amid Dire Form

Published on: 20 September 2016

"?Slaven Bilic has confirmed publicly that there have been no talks over the extension of his current contract, the Daily Star reports.

Bilic, whose contract has 20 months to run, deflected attention away from speculation over his future when asked if David Gold and David Sullivan would offer him a new deal.

David Sullivan had stated in March, "I will give Slaven a new deal. I just want to see that he is not a one-season wonder"?.

However, given the Irons poor start to the season after defeats to Astra Giurgiu, Chelsea, Watford and West Brom, it appears that no contact has been made over a new deal for the Croatian boss.

Bilic said, "I didn't speak about that in March, or April or May. Not publicly, not with the chairman to be fair.

"We never discussed that I have a contract. I am totally focused on training and games.

"I never like to talk about that. I said at the time that my contract is the next couple of games. It was then like that and it is now like that. That's the way I work."?

West Ham will be desperate to get their season back on track by beating Accrington Stanley in Wednesday's EFL Cup game, in the hope of redeeming their poor start to the season.
