England manager Roy Hodgson and captain Wayne Rooney have issued a message to supporters of the national team to stay safe and to stay out of trouble following the scenes of violence in the opening week of Euro 2016.

The messages were released on Monday, with Rooney urging fans in France not to travel without a ticket to their crunch clash against Wales this Thursday. Hodgson recorded a similar message, warning fans of the repercussions of the senseless violence that is overshadowing the tournament.

The FA's action warning sent out to both the FA and the Football Union of Russia from UEFA stating that further violence in the stadiums or outside by their fans, will result in the teams being excluded from the competition.

Both sets of fans clashed at the end of the 1-1 draw in Marseille on Saturday with pictures appearing to show Russian fans instigating the disturbance with a number of England fans being injured in the process.

FA spokesman Mark Whittle has already condemned the violence that has swept the tournament and branding the disturbances as "regrettable."

The RFU have already been charged on three counts including racist chants and setting off fireworks and the case will be judged this Tuesday.
