Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Christian Eriksen to Barcelona

According to reports in Don Balon, Barcelona have switched up their plans for the January transfer window. The La Liga club had hoped to sign Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho but the Merseysiders have refused to sell during the winter window. Barcelona want reinforcements now and have shifted their attention to Tottenham Hotspur's Eriksen. It would take a sizeable offer to tempt Daniel Levy to sell the 25-year-old Dane but Barcelona remain interested.

Ryan Sessegnon to Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino views Fulham wonderkid Sessegnon as an ideal replacement for Danny Rose, who is expected to leave the club. Relations between Rose and Spurs have been strained ever since the 27-year-old criticised the wage structure, insisting the players should be paid more. The Daily Mail claim Tottenham have identified Manchester United target Sessegnon as the man to replace the wantaway Rose, and could move as early as January.

Fedor Smolov to West Ham

David Moyes is planning to delve into the market this January with Borussia Dortmund target Smolov topping his list. The 27-year-old forward has been in fine form for Krasnodar this season, netting nine goals. He's viewed as the man to get the attack at the London Stadium firing and could be available for £15 million. Smolov, as reported by the Daily Mail, is open to moving to the Premier League.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea

The Daily Mirror report that Chelsea have been offered Borussia Dortmund forward Aubameyang. The 28-year-old nearly left the Bundesliga club in the summer but agreed to stay in Germany after a move to Real Madrid, his preferred destination, never materialised. Aubameyang has scored 17 goals in 19 games this season but things are far from rosy. He was dropped from the squad for the loss to Hamburg after showing up late to training and was sent off against Schalke as Dortmund capitulated to concede four second half goals in a 4-4 draw. The report in the Mirror claims Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wants to add to his attacking options so the club aren't reliant on Alvaro Morata.

Jann-Fiete Arp to Chelsea

Aubameyang isn't the only Bundesliga forward Chelsea are keeping tabs on. Recent reports in Bild suggest Conte is interested in 17-year-old Hamburg forward Arp. He's scored two goals in three starts and is set to be the next big thing in German football. However, Arp's agent, Jurgen Milewski, has rejected talk that the striker will move in January, telling Bild: "This story has nothing in it."
