Tottenham Defender Set for Permanent Move to Serie A Giants Following Purple Patch

"?Tottenham defender Federico Fazio is likely to join Serie A side Roma on a permanent deal this month.

The Argentine has made enough appearances to activate a clause in his season-long loan deal agreed between the two clubs in the Summer.

Gazzetta Della Sport, "?viaTalkSport, are reporting that Roma are happy to pay the £2.8m fee to keep the former Sevilla man on a permanent basis.

Having already paid £1m for the loan of the player, it means Roma will have to pay a total of £3.8m for the player's services.

Fazio has become a star player at the Stadio Olimpico and Roma feel it is superb business to pay such a small fee for such a key player.

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti expressed his delight of the small fee after his sides 1-0 win over Cagliari last weekend.

"For us, it is now impossible to do without him," Spalletti explained. Fazio is set to sign a contract with the club that will run until 2019.

The Argentine never quite adapted to life in England and many are surprised at the success he is having in Serie A.

Tottenham currently have their two starting centre backs, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, out through injury.

Although they have cover in Eric Dier and Kevin Wimmer, it wouldn't be asurprise if the sale of Fazio leads to a new centre back arriving at White Hart Lane.

Mauricio Pochettino is yet to sign anyone this window and Spurs fans are desperate for a couple of new signings to help their push for domestic glory this season.
