BREAKING: Tornadoes Name Bala As New Coach

Niger Tornadoes have confirmed Abubakar Bala as their new head coach to contest the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The management of the Minna outfit met over the weekend and unanimously agreed that Bala’s performance at the just concluded 2015/2016 NPFL season was enough to earn him the position.

Bala took over Tornadoes on an interim basis after the club parted ways with coach Abdullahi Usman Biffo.

In the letter signed by the club’s management committee secretary, Ahmed Yakubu Gwam stated that the appointment was based on his noble performance, commitment, diligence, hard work and high sense of professionalism.

“Following the resolution of Tornadoes Management Committee (TMC) during its end of 2015/2016 football season meeting on the 30th October, 2016, you are hereby engaged as the head of the club with immediate effect,” read the statement made available to supersport.com.

The former Lokoja FC, Bida Lions and Zabgai FC coach guided Tornadoes to 11th spot with 49 points in the outgoing Nigerian top-flight.

Bala, who has coached Patros FC of Owerri, will commence his job as substantive head coach with screening exercise of players for the 2016/2017 NPFL.

The Secretary of the club added that all personal terms and agreements have been reached with the club and after documentation the coach will be unveiled.

The TMC also appointed Abdul-Rauf Yusuf as the chief coach of Tornadoes Feeders
