According to a calculation by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, in 2023 the Italian Serie A was the best championship in the world.

An undoubtedly surprising result considering that Italian fans are the first to be aware that Serie A has lost its position of dominance in world football, as happened in the 90s and early 2000s.

In fact, no Italian team at the moment has the economic potential to economically counter clubs like Bayern, Real Madrid, Barcelona, not to mention the very rich Premier League clubs.

In recent times, Serie A has also had to deal (but a bit like everyone else) with the excessive economic power of the Arab League which has deprived it of important players.

The same applies to the national team, which is facing one of the darkest moments in its history, missing participation in the FIFA World Cup for two consecutive editions.

So how can we explain this unexpected "victory"?

It's actually quite simple: out of 3 European competitions, in each final there was a Serie A team: respectively Fiorentina in the Conference League, Roma in the Europa League and Inter in the Champions League.

And on a statistical level it doesn't matter that they lost all 3 matches, in fact the 3 finals allowed them to even surpass the Premier League, despite West Ham and Manchester City triumphing in the Conference League and the Champions League.

We therefore remind you that if you want to bet on the best championship of 2023 you can do so on NetBet.
