Awoniyi connected planted a firm header into the net of Kortrijk off a cross from Omar Govea in the 13th minute to draw his team level after they went behind through an own goal scored by Teddy Mezague in the 14th minute.

Five minutes from full time Dimitri Mohammed scored what ended as the winner for Mouscron with a goal from the spot to boost their chances of qualifying for the Europa League, with two wins in two play-off games.

20 year old Awoniyi is on a season long loan to the modest Belgium side from Liverpool, and after two unhappy loan spells, he is finally finding his feet in Belgium.

The goal was his 9th goal in all competitions, with 8 of his goals coming in the league, where he has scored three times in his last four game, and twice in as many games since his return from suspension.

His other goal came in the Belgium Cup, where he netted in a 3-1 win over second division side Tubize on the 20 of September last year. His performance has already earned him a contract extension with Liverpool.

However, he will still spend next season on loan but this time around to a club campaigning in the Europa League, as Liverpool wants him to gain some experience playing in continental games to ease his chances of securing a work permit
