Super Falcons Drop In FIFA Ranking, Stay Top In Africa; Friendly Opponents France Rise

Nigeria have slipped one place in the latest FIFA women’s world ranking released by the wold football body on Friday.

The Super Falcons were 37th in the world with 1613 points in December but are now 38th with 1608 points, according to the ranking on FIFA’s official website on Friday.

The 2016 African Women’s Cup of Nations winners however remain number one in Africa.

Ghana, who beat Nigeria in the final of the recent WAFU Women’s Cup, Cameroon, South Africa and Equatorial Guinea make up Africa’s top five.

Ivory coast, Morocco, Egypt, Senegal and Mali are sixth, seventh, eight, ninth and tenth in Africa respectively.

Super Falcons will next month play a friendly with France, who moved up one spot to the fifth position in the world with 2025 points while USA, England, Germany and Canada make the top four spots in the world.
