Super Eagles Trainee Josh Maja Emerges As Prime Target For Southampton

Hot in demand Sunderland teen striker Josh Maja could end up at English Premier League side Southampton according to various reports in the British press monitored by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team

Maja has taken the English League One by storm this season with 9 goals to his name so far and his performance has caught the attention of English Premier League teams.

The trio of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspurs and Southampton are keeping tabs on the forward but it is widely believed that Southampton are in pole position to sign him in the future.

Although Maja played for Manchester City before his move to Sunderland, he even rejected a scholarship in 2015 as he believe his path to the first team isn’t guarantee. He still hold same belief till date.

Last year Maja trained and even played a test game in training with the Super Eagles of Nigeria during their camp in London after their friendly game against Senegal.

He is however still eligible for England as he has not been capped by Nigeria at senior level and many are of the opinion that a move to a Premier League club could spark a tug over his international future.
