In an exclusive chat with Owngoalnigeria.com, Simon said he has never been moved by what the rankings says but reckoned it has an impact especially in transfer to clubs in the English Premier League.

Simon said the current position of the Super Eagles in the latest rankings is a not a true reflection of the abilities of the Nigerian team, hence fans shouldn’t use it to gauge how ?they will perform at the World Cup in Russia in June.

” I’m aware of our latest ranking by FIFA. It’s not the true strength of our team. Not even good enough to be considered as a yard stick to measure how well we will perform in Russia”, Simon told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” The rankings has little significance when we step on the pitch, it’s basically about what we can do against what our opponents can do. However we know it plays a role in transfers especially to clubs in England “, he concluded.

Expected to make the final 23 man list of the Super Eagles for the World Cup, he is in the 30 man provisional list released by coach Gernot Rohr two days back ahead of the release of the final list in June.
