Super Eagles Defender Ambrose stars as Hibernian gain promotion

Efe Ambrose played his part to help Scottish Championship club Hibernian clinch promotion to the Premiership on Saturday.

The Nigerian defender played all 90 minutes as Hibernian beat Queen of the South 3-0 to emerge Ladbrokes Championship winners for 2017.

Three losses, 13 draws and 17 victories were enough to see the Hibs emerge as champions of the division and earn a ticket to compete in Scotland’s top flight with an unassailable 64 points.

Hibernian still have four more Championship games to play versus Aberdeen, Raith Rovers, Ayr United and St Mirren but can no longer be upstaged at the summit of the standings.

Ambrose joined Hibernian from Celtic on January 31 and has scored once in eight league appearances for the club.

The 28-year-old previously played for Israeli club Ashdod.
