Former Nigeria U17 Golden Eaglets World Cup silver medal winner Mgbam Chukwujike has resurfaced at Nigeria second-tier league side Nnewi United after failed moves to Young Boys of Switzerland and Stuttgart of Germany.

Chukwujike was part of John Obuh’s silver medal-winning Golden Eaglets squad during the 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup finals in Abuja.

He was spotted by Swiss top league side Young Boys and was close to signing a five-year contract with a monthly take home of $5,000.

But the deal collapsed even with Stuttgart of Germany showing interest in the fair-skinned attacking midfielder.

“Even at this moment, I still don’t know what went wrong”, the soft-spoken midfielder quipped.

“We traveled to Switzerland, held talks and I was offered a contract for five years with five thousand dollars monthly salary.

“They told me other details will be sorted out with my agent and the agent never told me anything till this moment.

“Even Stuttgart of Germany came, but said since I was already in talks with Young Boys, they would take me from them after about one season”.

A move to an undisclosed club in Greece did not also materialise.

Mgbam Chukwujike has had three seasons at El Kanemi Warriors before a move to Akwa United in 2015
