Southampton Adamant on Keeping £40m-Rated Midfielder Sadio Mane

Published on: 31 May 2016

"?Southampton can now afford to keep their stars, having suffered a plundering from Liverpool and Manchester United over the past two summers.

The Reds have snatched Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert and Nathaniel Clyne in the space of two seasons, but in spite of that, the Saints will be playing in Europe next season, while Liverpool won't.

They also lost Luke Shaw and Morgan Schneiderlin to United in that period, and if you are to count coaches, then look no further than Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino.

Throughout, Southampton have remained calm, rebuilt and reloaded. And according to the "?Telegraph, they won't be letting their key components go this time around.

One player in particular, who has attracted loads of attention, is Senegalese winger Sadio Mane.

The 24-year-old is wanted by several clubs, but the club has taken a stance, plainly stating that he is not for sale.

In previous summers, anything in the region of £20-£30m would have been enough to buy a player from Southampton, as was the case with Lallana (£23m), Schneiderlin (£25m) and Shaw (£31.5). But if a club wants Mane, a bid of £40m and upwards will have to be placed.

Sadio Mané is not for sale. That has been the first point response from Southampton from any inquiry. #lfc (Sam Wallace - Telegraph)

Having watched Leicester City destroy natural proceedings in the Premier League, the Saints are sure that they can continue with the trend, and don't even feel threatened when other clubs are linked with their players or manager Ronald Koeman.

The Dutchman has been a subject of interest at Everton, yet officials at the club can't recall even having a meeting with regards to that.
