Serie A Summer Transfer Deadline Day 2016/17: All the transfers

Published on: 31 August 2016

After a summer that saw big money moves for Gonzalo Higuain and Paul Pogba, transfer deadline day promised to be an eventful night in Italy.

It did not disappoint, with several notable moves between Serie A sides taking place, while Juventus and Torino grabbed the headlines as the former completed a much-wanted return while the latter sealed a surprise deal for an English goalkeeper.

In case you missed any of the action by your favourite club on August 31 2016, here is our round-up of every transfer that took place on summer transfer deadline day.

AC Milan

Deadline day started brightly for the Rossoneri with links to Cesc Fabregas and Stevan Jovetic, but disappointment followed and Mati Fernandez was the only player to arrive.

The Chilean completes a loan move with a right to purchase despite strong interest from Cagliari, while Jherson Vergara joined Arsenal Tula on loan and Diego Lopez also departed on a temporary basis to Espanyol.

Atalanta

Easily the busiest of the Serie A clubs on deadline day, the Bergamo outfit will perhaps feel fortunate they were able to keep hold of goalkeeper Marco Sportiello; Napoli were interested in signing the Italian shot-stopper and loaning him back to Atalanta, but no move materialised despite the two clubs having done business.

Alberto Grassi has returned to Bergamo on loan from Napoli having only left Atalanta last January, while Serbian striker Aleksandar Pesic has joined from Toulouse on loan with a buyout clause and goalkeeper Etrit Berisha has also joined on loan from Lazio with an option to buy.

Davide Brivio has joined Genoa while Matteo Ardemagni has joined Serie B side Avellino, and Berat Djimisiti has followed Ardemagni to Avellino on loan along with Salvatore Molina.

Simone Emmanuello has left on loan to Pro Vercelli and Nadir Minotti has been loaned out to Lega Pro club US Sambendettese.

Bologna

Despite some positive arrivals in the final hours of the window, Bologna will be disappointed they couldn’t seal a move for Alessio Cerci after the Atletico Madrid winger failed a medical earlier on Wednesday.

However, the club welcomed two signings from Roma, Vasilis Torosidis on a permanent deal and Umar Sadiq with an option to purchase.

Goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic has joined St Gallen permanently while Alfred Gomis has come in on loan from Torino, and highly-rated Swedish defender Filip Helander and Federico Viviani have arrived on loan from Hellas Verona.

Lorenzo Crisetig has joined Crotone on loan and finally Nicolo Cherubin has gone in the opposite direction, but on a permanent transfer.

Cagliari

Having done a great deal of their summer business early on after returning to Serie A, the Sardinians had a quiet deadline day.

Panagiotis Tachtsidis is the standout arrival for Cagliari, arriving on loan from Torino after a late move for Mati Fernandez fell through, while Luka Krajnc departed on loan with a buyout option to Sampdoria.

Spezia have acquired Alessandro Deiola on loan, Santiago Colombatto has joined Trapani on a temporary basis and Luca Bittante has arrived from Empoli on loan with a right of redemption.

Chievo

A quiet one for the Flying Donkeys, and perhaps deservedly so after a calm and methodical transfer window.

Nonetheless, one player arrived, and Chievo continue their association with Balkan players by signing Nikola Dukic from Partizan Belgrade.

Paul-Jose Mpoku, who had recently signed a permanent deal with Chievo, has gone on loan to Panathinaikos, and Damir Bartulovic is the final departure; he has joined Como on loan.
