A Gonzalo Higuain goal gave Juventus the win against Napoli, with the Bianconeri now seven points ahead of the Partenopei and four points ahead of Roma, who only managed to draw in Empoli.
AC Milan beat Pescara at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza thanks to a clever Giacomo Bonaventura free kick, whilst Inter lost to Sampdoria, with coach Frank de Boer losing his job as a result.
Lazio won again thanks to Ciro Immobile, and Fiorentina went back to winning ways, whilst Atalanta are sixth. At the bottom, Crotone found their first ever Serie A win thanks to goals by Diego Falcinelli and Marcello Trotta.

Lukas Skorupski – Empoli
Ah, the irony… The Polish goalkeeper is on loan from Roma, and it’s largely thanks to him that the Giallorossi dropped points at the Stadio Castellani. Fantastic saves throughout the game, with a splendid final one to deny Stephan El Shaarawy.
Kostas Manolas – Roma
With Roma all forward to try and beat Skorupski and Empoli – which didn’t happen – the hosts had the chance themselves to win it on the counter, but the Greek defender simply covered every possible hole. A wall.
Leonardo Bonucci – Juventus (2 Team of the Week appearances)
Not only is he a great defender and a true leader for the Bianconeri; when the No.19 goes forward he becomes an added danger for the opponents, as Napoli saw again on Saturday night when Bonucci fired home with a lovely volley to score the opener.
Manuel Pasqual – Empoli
The former Fiorentina left-back had the toughest task: stop his former teammate at La Viola, Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian winger struggled to play his football, with Pasqual managing to keep up with his pace. The Italian also went close to scoring with a beautiful free kick and with a shot that forced Wojciech Szczesny to a super save to keep the clean sheet.
Giacomo Bonaventura – AC Milan
The Brazilian Ronaldinho was famous for taking free kicks in that way, like Andrea Pirlo or Diego Maradona, taking advantage of the defenders in the wall jumping and making the ball go beneath the players. Bonaventura resurrected the technique and gave the three points to the Rossoneri.
Jasmin Kurtic – Atalanta
Gian Piero Gasperini’s men would be in the Europa League if the season ended now and the win over Genoa was a mixture of great defending and skillful attacking, especially from Kurtic, who used to be a hard-working midfielder but has shown that he can also be a creative attacker able to score twice. What an afternoon.
Daniele Dessena – Cagliari
What a story: the captain started his first game since the operation in July and he marked it in the best possible way – with two goals to carry Cagliari back to winning ways. Tremendous.
Felipe Anderson – Lazio
Fantastic quality and elegance every time he had the ball, against Sassuolo he dribbled and served assists like his best days, simply unstoppable for the defenders. Lazio can fly high thanks to him.
Diego Falcinelli – Crotone
At the Stadio Scida Crotone managed to win their first ever Serie A game and Falcinelli was crucial in the two main occasions, being involved in the play up to the penalty and scoring the goal that put the game to sleep.
Gonzalo Higuain – Napoli (3 apps)
It just had to be him. As always, the Argentinian is one of the deadliest No.9s in the world and with two chances he scored one goal to give the victory to the Bianconeri and sadness to his former supporters. He didn’t celebrate, at least.
Ciro Immobile – (3 apps)
Every time he touches the ball the feeling is he can score. He did it yet again against Sassuolo, giving Lazio the decisive goal and the three points.
