Salisu Yusuf Explain NPFL Players Snub

Super Eagles interim coach, Salisu Yusuf has said the decision to pick only one NPFL player for the friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg was for economic reasons.

The 26-man list ; announced on Wednesday, is dominated by foreign based players with Sunshine Stars goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa as the only home based player invited.

In an exclusive interview with footballlive.ng, the former Enyimba FC handler disclosed that there are plans to arrange another friendly that would be executed by only NPFL based players.

Salisu also stated the criteria for selection of players for the friendlies. Several notable names return to the national team including Brown Ideye and William Troost-Ekong.

The Super Eagles play Afcon 2017-bound Mali on 27 May in France and 5 days later in Luxembourg, Nigeria will play its first official game against the small European nation.
