Report: Nigerian International Efe Ambrose set for Hibernian medical After Brendan Rogers Confirms No Future At Celtic

Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon is expected to sign Bhoys defender Efe Ambrose on loan for Hibernian after the Nigerian's move to Blackburn Rovers fell through.

Celtic's Efe Ambrose is expected to undergo a medical at Hibernian ahead of an emergency loan to the Championship side, reports the Edinburgh Evening News.

Ambrose, who has failed to feature for Celtic since August, was pictured back training with the Bhoys on Monday, after a proposed move to Blackburn Rovers was blocked due to a work permit issue.

However, the Nigerian already looks to be on his way out of Parkhead, with former boss Neil Lennon reportedly ready to pounce.

Lennon, whose Championship promotion chasers can still make domestic loan signings outside of the two main transfer windows, brought Ambrose to Celtic from Israeli side FC Ashdod five years ago.

Together, the pair won two Premiership titles and one Scottish Cup, before the Northern Irishman's 2014 departure.

Lennon has already recruited former Bhoys midfielder Dylan McGeouch for Hibs, and brought in Ambrose's teammate Kris Commons on another short-term deal in December.

Blackburn, who drew their first game under new boss and Lennon's predecessor at Celtic Tony Mowbray, remain 23rd in England's second tier.

The Lancastrian side will have to turn to the free agent market if they wish to recruit an alternative to Ambrose, whose signing was agreed ahead of last month's deadline.
