Real Madrid Want Dimitri Payet But Will Wait Until After Euro 16 to Make a Move

"?Spanish giants Real Madrid are interested in signing Dimitri Payet from West Ham during the summer, but will wait until after the European Championship before deciding on whether or not they should firm up their interest with a bid, per Le 10 Sport (via "?talkSPORT).

The midfielder sparkled for West Ham during the season, helping them to a seventh-placed finish, hitting 12 goals and 12 assists in a very fruitful campaign.

His performances were rewarded with a call up to the France national side, and it is believed that Madrid will have their scouts monitoring the 29-year-old during the tournament.

The Spanish outfit are reportedly in the hunt for a replacement for Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez, and see Payet as the perfect fit for their squad.

His intricate passing, awareness and ability on the dead ball would indeed make him an ideal signing for Los Blancos, who will be fighting to take the La Liga title off rivals Barcelona next season.

If he performs well for France at the Euro's, they would have no problems matching the Hammers' £50m valuation.

The player signed a new five-year £125,000-a-week deal with West Ham back in February, making him the highest paid player in club history. They insist that he will not be sold in the summer, yet the lure of Champions League football could tempt him if Madrid really do come knocking.
