One of Nigeria’s representative in this year CAF Champions League Plateau United are through to the next round of the CAF Champions League after a 1-0 win away at Eding Sport Of Cameroon.

Midfielder Raphael Ayagwa scored the only goal of the game that gave the Nigerian champions a 4-1 aggregate victory after winning the first leg 3-0 in Nigeria.

It wasn’t all smooth for the Nigerians as they were reduced to ten men following a red card six minutes to the end of the game. They however hanged on to claim a memorable win which secures their passage to the next round.

The Nigerians will now take on Tunisian giants Etoile Du Sahel in the final round of qualifiers for the money spinning group stage of Africa most prestigious club club competition organised by CAF.

Plateau United are campaigning in the tournament for the first time after beating MFM FC of Jos to the Nigeria Premier League title last season under the guidance of coach Kennedy Boboye, who has been appointed as one of the national team coach of Nigeria. Despite the fine run of the Nigerian team, they will be wary of the threat of the Tunisians who are seasoned campaigners in the tournament, and have in the past knocked out some Nigerian team on the African continent.
