Rabiu Ibrahim Joins Slovakian Club Slovan Bratislava On Record €1m Deal

  2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner with Nigeria's Golden Eaglets, Rabiu Ibrahim, has joined Slovakian top flight club Slovan Bratislava from Belgian first division club KAA Gent on a four-year deal worth €1million, a Slovakian League record, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.‎   Ibrahim's signing was announced on Bratislava's official website on Wednesday.   According to Bratislava, the deal is a Slovakian transfer record worth €1million.   Commenting on the deal, Ibrahim, 26, stated that his ambition  is  to win laurels with  Bratislava.   "I am very happy with the transfer to Slovan. After last season, I had different options, but clearly I decided to join Slovan. We've been communicating since January and I felt that the club really want me.    "I have played in Slovakia for two years (with previous club Trencin), so I know what this club (Bratislava) is in this country is. First of all, I have to work hard for the team and fight for a place in the starting line-up. I have the highest ambitions – winning matches and trophies in Belas jersey," Ibrahim said.   The club's vice president, Ivan Kmotrík relished their record transfer deal.   "Rabiu Ibrahim's transfer is the largest in the history of Slovakia, with the total amount reaching transfer threshold of one million euros. We are extremely happy to have gotten a top player. We've always wanted him already during his time in Trencin. Initial negotiations with Gent, had been held since January this year. The negotiations with the club were very difficult and lengthy, but we have successfully finalized and signed Ibrahim on a four-year contract.    "We wanted to significantly strengthen the central position, so we decided to engage Rabiu, who in the middle will bring constructive and kick off the balance sheet.  Ibrahim, welcome to Slovan and I believe that our cooperation will be successful."    Slovan Bratislava finished second in the 12-team Slovakian league last campaign and will play in next season's UEFA Europa League.     Prior to joining Slovan Bratislava, Ibrahim has had stints with Sporting Lisbon, PSV, Celtic, Kilmarnock, Trencin and Gent.   Aside featuring for the Flying Eagles and the U-23 Eagles, Ibrahim has five caps for the Super Eagles.
