Akwa United have denounced reports in the media that the players and officials of the Promise Keepers have received the keys to their three bedroom flats promised them by the governor of the state, Udom Emmanuel after their 2015 Federation Cup victory in Lagos.

The Uyo side against all odds won the Federation Cup at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos in 2015 after they defeated Lobi Stars 2-1 in the final and Governor Emmanuel doled out a monetary reward of N2m to each player and a three bedroom flat too.

But the media reported recently that the players and officials of the club have been handed keys to their apartments and the Team Manager of Akwa United, Emmanuel Udoh told our sports team that no member of the club has collected such and that they have only gone to inspect the buildings which work are still ongoing on.

Udoh told nigeriasoccernet, “We have not collected the keys to the flats because the buildings are still under construction. We have only gone to inspect the place but are yet to have them.”

Udoh also stated that the N2m promised to each player has not been paid either.
