Media reports in Nigeria claim that the former Super Eagles striker has signed a pre-contract with Madura United and will be unveiled later this week.

The club’s manager, Haruna Soemitro, has confirmed Odemwingie's arrival: "Our search for a marquee player has been positive, we will bring Peter Odemwingie," he is quoted by GHANASoccernet.

"He's a player who had a career with the national team of Nigeria and played in three editions of the World Cup, and the level of these players actually meets the criteria marquee player.”

Ghana star Essien ended his long club-less spell by signing a deal with Persib Bandung earlier this month.
