"?In a shocking revelation, Bayern Munich Technical Director Michael Reschke has revealed that Pep Guardiola wanted Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel to replace him at the Allianz Arena when he left last season.

The Spanish boss exited the job at Bayern Munich after three seasons to join Manchester City and told the Bavarian club that he believed Thomas Tuchel would be the best man to takeover.

Reschke said that Pep told him, "Thomas has to become my successor at Bayern". He continued, "I had a trusting relationship with Thomas Tuchel, and knew that he admired Pep's work. Pep, on the other hand, was impressed with Mainz's displays. He often talked to me about Thomas."

Reschke's claim, which was reported by "?Goal.com, may not go down too well with Carlo Ancelotti, with the Italian boss taking over the reigns with the current Bundesliga champions while Tuchel remains in charge of Borussia Dortmund.

Tuchel and Guardiola met on the touchlines in southern Chinese province of Guangdong, as Manchester City defeated Dortmund 6-5 on penalties after their International Champions Cup tie ended in a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Tuchel has made some comments on the astronomical transfer prices that have arisen this window. "The transfer market has gone crazy. The transfer fees that are being paid are out of control.

"The people who come to the stadiums to watch a game can no longer relate to it. We have to be very careful not to lose touch with the fans. We will lose the fans if football is all about the money. Football should be a show for normal people and for children.

"There is too much money around in the game. It's only a matter of time before things really get out of control. Dortmund are keeping both feet on the ground and we are following our own path. We will not try to control what we cannot influence."
