Onazi Dropped From Super Eagles Squad For AFCON Qualifiers Tie Against Seychelles

The assistant captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Ogenyi Onazi is presently not in the list of players in contention to feature for Nigeria against Seychelles in the 2019 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Barring any last minute change to the team, the Trabzonspor midfielder is likely going to miss the game with coach Gernot Rohr set to try other options in midfield, hence his decision to leave Onazi out of the list of players which will be released tomorrow for the Seychelles game.

Onazi lost his spot in the team shortly before the World Cup 2018 in Russia and at the tournament proper he didn’t get to play any minute for Nigeria in the three group games before they crashed out of the tournament.

Last weekend he was on for the entire duration of Trabzonspor’s 3-1 win over Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig. His second league game of the season after playing in their first league game which they lost 0-2 against Istanbul Basaksehir.
